I’m calling as your constituent to remind you to do your job to represent me and my neighbors.
- Sponsor S8802, the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act, and S8667, the Emergency Housing Stability and Displacement Prevention Act. These bills would cancel rent and provide an eviction moratorium for ninety days, and a year after the pandemic ends respectively. Anything shorter than that is unacceptable.
- The rent relief program that recently passed is completely inadequate and has been a fiasco for tenants to try to apply.
- We also cannot wait for a federal response. You have been elected to provide this community with the resources it needs, real rent relief and eviction protection during this time of intense crisis.
- Allowing thousands more people to become homeless and destitute will create chaos and slow the pace of recovery. Passing these HJ4A-backed bills will provide real relief and peace of mind to your constituents for the duration of this crisis.
